The drive is provided by two General Electric T700-GE-401C engines with a maximum power of 1,828 HP each. The flight of the first prototype took place in 2001, and production started in the same year. The machine is 17.78 meters long with a rotor diameter of 14.88 meters.

The Bell UH-1Y Venom was designed and put into production to replace the UH-1N machines in line in the US Marine Corps. Initially, the new Venom helicopters were created as a modernisation of these machines, but in 2005 the production of factory-new UH-1Y Venom helicopters started. It is worth adding that the UH-1Y belongs to the Huey helicopter family, but in relation to its ancestor from the Vietnam War, it is actually a completely different aircraft, which has different engines, completely different avionics, relatively many of its elements are made of composite materials, and also much more perfect internal installations or much better performance. Currently, the main user of Bell UH-1Y Venom machines is the US Marine Corps, but they are also exported to the Czech Republic.
