The first aircraft in the RAF entered service in 1957. In total, three versions of the bomber were created: B.1, B.1A and B.2, and from May 1965 some of the B.1 aircraft were converted into air tankers. In the bomb versions, the main weapons were the Yellow Sun hydrogen bomb, the Blue Steel air-to-ground missile or 35 conventional bombs, 454 kg each.
