From the very beginning, the use of many modern technologies, such as the fly-by-wire control system, was assumed in the NH90, which inevitably extended the research and development work. Two main versions of the helicopter were also built: TTH (intended for the transport of land forces) and NFH (intended for sea operations, also from ships' decks). The design, after entering the service, showed numerous technical and design problems, which were systematically eliminated.
