It is still considered today one of the most successful light tactical vehicles in its category, capable of offering a good level of protection against small-arms fire and shrapnel. The Lince’s crew compartment is designed as an armoured “capsule” independent of the chassis, a solution that improves crew protection in the event of explosions beneath the hull. It is a four-wheeled, lightweight, multi-purpose all-terrain vehicle that provides protection against small-calibre firearms with a calibre of up to 14.5 mm and artillery fragments. It also has a V-shaped hull bottom, increasing the survival chances of the crew after hitting a mine or the so-called fugasa. The car can take up to 7 passengers on board. The vehicle in the British Army is used under the designation Panther CLV. It is modernised by BAE Systems for this operator.
