Easy Model - 1/72 Spitfire MK V RAF 121

Product Description

1/72 Spitfire MK V RAF 121

Easy Model 37211

Fully assembled, pre-painted, plastic display model.

The Spitfire Mk VI , based on the Spitfire Mk V , was the first Spitfire fighter developed for high-altitude combat, rather than reconnaissance. It featured a pressurized cockpit, a Merlin 47 engine with a maximum power of 1,415 hp, and a " C " wing with an extended span of 40.2 feet. According to the order contract, in February 1941 , the Royal Air Force 124 Squadron became the first squadron equipped with "Spitfire" VI , and five of them were shipped to the Middle East battlefield to replace the "Spitfire" Mk V in the troops. Special type fighter.

During actual use it was found that the performance of the Spitfire Mk VI was not up to design requirements, therefore, only 97 were built ; its performance was not as good as the special Spitfire Mk V fighters deployed overseas , and could not be achieved 50,000 feet to intercept Ju86P-2 bombers. The most serious disadvantage is the fact that the canopy has to be locked in order to be pressurized, although the canopy can be thrown away in an emergency, it cannot be opened during normal flight. .

After transfer to second-line service and training duties , most Spitfire MK VIs had replaceable wingtip components instead of fixed wingtips.
