Between the wars, she operated primarily with the Atlantic Fleet, except for a brief refit in 1930–1931.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt the outbreak of World War II, HMS Resolution joined the Home Fleet and served as an escort in the Atlantic. While supporting the Norwegian Campaign in May 1940, Resolution was hit by a bomb at Tjeldsundet. In June of that year, she joined Force H at Gibraltar and participated in the destruction of the French fleet at Mers-el-Kebir in July. Shortly thereafter, she joined Force M at Freetown and participated in the bombardment of French ships in the Dakar area. It is worth noting that during this engagement, the battleship was torpedoed by the French submarine Beveziers and severely damaged.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter refitting in the United States, HMS Resolution sailed for Colombo in February 1942 and served in the Indian Ocean in 1942 and 1943. She returned to England in September 1943 and became a training ship in 1944.
